Hunger

by Philip Dongre, CFI Executive Director

“I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat….” - Matthew 25:34-40 NIV

No child asks to be an orphan. No child becomes a victim of famine and disease by his own choice. Yet vast multitudes have been trapped by circumstances beyond their control. Somehow, they are reduced to the lowest condition of poverty that one can imagine.

Of the approximately 750 children who have been admitted to the Children’s Fellowship of India over the past 23 years, many were in danger of death at the time of their admission.  Some were beyond help. The work carries on because the need continues.

CFI is not just the boys and buildings. It is more than an investment against starvation, more than a shelter in the time of storm. It is a place where the friendless find friendship, the helpless find help, the hopeless find hope, and the lost find salvation.

Having found salvation at CFI, many of our boys go forth as living examples of the transforming power of the gospel. Witnesses for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ are the most important products of the CFI.

We invite you to become a partner in this great work. You can join others who have found great joy in rescuing the perishing. May we hear from you today?

In the last week of April, a team from Koinonia Christian Church, Charlottesville, VA, led VBS. At least 25 children made a decision for the Lord. On the last day, we rented 2 big buses and took 150 boys to Food and Fun Water Park near Nagpur, 80 miles away from CFI. What a special treat for our children as they enjoyed it so much. Our special thanks to Warren and Lucy Spence and David Thompson, CFI supporters, for their generous contributions that made this event possible.

Please pray for our 22 full-time staff and especially our house parents. They work hard as they have a heavy responsibility. In June, CFI arranged a 2 day retreat for them to the city of Bombay. Four families, totaling thirteen people, flew to Bombay. For many, it was their first time flying! It was a special treat, encouragement, and reward. While in Bombay, Pastor Vivek encouraged them from the Word of God. We are ALL so grateful to our friends and CFI supporters, John and Rachel Stefanik, for sponsoring this retreat.
